PRODUCT OVERVIEW: The EXS Series Combination Exit Sign and Emergency Light features an attractive, contemporary design and thermoplastic housing, which contains both an exit sign and two emergency lamp heads. Ideal for commercial, office, retail and institutional installations, the EXS Series combination unit blends perfectly with current interior decors. The EXS series is available in white and black finish. The EXS uses high-output red or green LEDs to illuminate the exit sign portion. Universal mounting on the wall or ceiling allows for installation versatility. Emergency lighting heads can be swiveled 360° to provide effective and accurate emergency egress illumination.

CONSTRUCTION: The EXS Series is constructed from durable corrosion and flame resistant thermoplastic. The EXS series comes standard with a mounting canopy, two stencils, one back plate, removable chevrons, and mounting hardware. Side mounted emergency lighting heads rotate 360° providing a new level of adjustment. The EXS series comes standard finished in white; optional black finish is available. Removable chevron arrows are standard. External LED status indicator and test switch are standard.

ILLUMINATION: The EXS Series is configured with high-output LED lamps. Energy efficient LED technology uses 2 and 4 watts of electricity for green and red LEDs , respectively. The EXS is standard with 120/277v AC input. Emergency lighting heads come standard configured with 5.4 watt incandescent wedge base lamps.

BATTERY TECHNOLOGY: The EXS series is designed with 6V 4Ah maintenance free, sealed lead acid that provides a minimum emergency operation of 90 minutes. Recharge time of the battery is 24 hours. The maximum battery working temperature is 50 C of 122 F. When the EXS is ordered with the remote capability option, a larger 6V 7Ah battery is used.

INSTALLATION: The EXS Series combination unit is suitable for surface ceiling, wall, and pendant mounting. Universal thermoplastic mounting canopy and all mounting hardware is included. The EXS is suitable for indoor installations on normally inflammable surfaces.

Question : How do I configure the arrows for my sign?
Answer : Many signs come with the ability to set the arrows to your preference at the time of installation. This is called 'infield' applicable arrows. Almost all signs come with field applicable arrows. Here is how they differ. thermoplastic signs have pop-out arrows that can be removed or added to your choice. Cast-Aluminum signs have knock-outs. knock-outs are where we indent the back side of the face plate with a cut in the shape of arrows requiring the tap of a screw driver or hammer to 'knock' them all the way out. It is difficult to add back knocked-out arrows because the seams are exposed. It can be done, but it looks nicer when you are accurate. Self-luminous and photoluminescent signs use stencils and/or adhesive arrows. The adhesive arrows can only be applied once. You can remove them after application but the y are designed for permanent adhesion. The stencils can be popped out. Edge-lit exit signs can have the arrows pre-specified, adhesive, or static. Our signs use either static or pre-configured in general, as the panels for edge-lits are prone to smudges and fingerprints. Our signs look great because our chevrons are designed for easy and clean installation, minus the smudges.
Question : Does this exit sign plug-in to a wall outlet?
Answer : No. LED and other types of electrical exit signs have to be hard-wired into your electrical system. Electrical exit signs must be hard-wired to be building and fire code compliant. If you are looking for an exit sign to use in a location that does not have electricity available please look at our non-electrical Self Luminous and Photoluminescent exit signs.
Question : How do I know if this exit sign is approved for use in my city/county/state?
Answer : The UL listing (Underwriters Laboratories) for of our exit signs ensures that these signs are code compliant. UL tests our exit signs and then gives their approval. This approval comes in the form of a listing. As long as your exit sign is UL listed it will work for your jurisdiction. Two exceptions exist: New York City and Chicago, which have their own exit sign specifications in addition to the UL listing.
Question : What does 120/277v mean?
Answer : 120/277 refers to the line voltage that the exit sign can operate on. 120 refers to residential and small commercial line voltage while 220 refers to commercial and office building line voltage. The main point is that our exit signs will work in either situation so you don’t need to worry about the functionality. We recommend using a licensed electrician or maintenance professional to install exit signs, emergency lights and other safety egress equipment.
