PRODUCT OVERVIEW: The CA-IND Series Industrial Exit Sign is designed to stand up to high abuse areas such as correctional facilities, schools, apartment complexes, and public areas that may be subject to vandalism. The heavy gauge cast aluminum housing and high abuse polycarbonate faceplate offer extreme protection and superior performance with a contemporary look. The CA-IND is wet location listed and approved for both indoor and outdoor use. Tamper resistant screws insure the integrity of the unit. Perforated chevrons allow for on-site selection. The CA-IND comes standard with a high reflective white powder coat inside the housing to maximize the LED distribution. The CA-IND is IP 66 rated and available in a white or black finish with red or green letters. The CA-IND utilizes a long life neoprene gasket.

ILLUMINATION: The CA-IND series is configured with high-output LED lamps. LED version is standard with 120/277v AC input. Energy efficient LED technology uses 2 and 4 watts of electricity for green and red LEDs, respectively.

Letter Size: 6” letters with 3/4” stroke
Directional Indicators: Infield applicable chevron arrows sized to meet UL visibility requirements.

BATTERY TECHNOLOGY: The CA-IND series is designed with a maintenance free, sealed Nickel-Cadmium battery providing a minimum emergency duration of 90 minutes. An optional 120 minutes Nickel-Cadmium battery is available. Recharge time of the battery is 24 hours. The maximum battery operating temperature is +113°F and the minimum is +32°F without internal heater/thermostat option. The minimum operating temperature with internal heater/thermostat is -40°F/°C.

INSTALLATION: The CA-IND series exit is supplied with a canopy and is suitable for surface ceiling, wall and end mount applications. This heavy duty exit sign is suitable for indoor, outdoor, damp or wet applications.

Question : How do I configure the arrows for my sign?
Answer : Many signs come with the ability to set the arrows to your preference at the time of installation. This is called 'infield' applicable arrows. Almost all signs come with field applicable arrows. Here is how they differ. thermoplastic signs have pop-out arrows that can be removed or added to your choice. Cast-Aluminum signs have knock-outs. knock-outs are where we indent the back side of the face plate with a cut in the shape of arrows requiring the tap of a screw driver or hammer to 'knock' them all the way out. It is difficult to add back knocked-out arrows because the seams are exposed. It can be done, but it looks nicer when you are accurate. Self-luminous and photoluminescent signs use stencils and/or adhesive arrows. The adhesive arrows can only be applied once. You can remove them after application but the y are designed for permanent adhesion. The stencils can be popped out. Edge-lit exit signs can have the arrows pre-specified, adhesive, or static. Our signs use either static or pre-configured in general, as the panels for edge-lits are prone to smudges and fingerprints. Our signs look great because our chevrons are designed for easy and clean installation, minus the smudges.
Question : How do I know if this exit sign is approved for use in my city/county/state?
Answer : The UL listing (Underwriters Laboratories) for of our exit signs ensures that these signs are code compliant. UL tests our exit signs and then gives their approval. This approval comes in the form of a listing. As long as your exit sign is UL listed it will work for your jurisdiction. Two exceptions exist: New York City and Chicago, which have their own exit sign specifications in addition to the UL listing.
Question : What is and do I need the battery backup option?
Answer : The battery backup option provides emergency battery power to illuminate your exit sign or emergency light in case of a fire, earthquake, or other emergency that causes a power outage. You must have the battery backup model if you DO NOT have a generator that provides emergency power to your facility.
