PRODUCT OVERVIEW: The CA-L Series Cast Aluminum LED Exit Sign combines a sleek design with energy efficient, evenly illuminating LEDs. The CA-L is designed to be durable, affordable, attractive, and maintenance-free. The CA-L is manufactured from sturdy, die-cast aluminum and comes standard with a brushed aluminum face with black housing. Black and white aluminum faces are also available. The CA-L is supplied standard with one faceplate, a back plate, and mounting canopy; making the CA-L a truly universal die-cast exit sign. A double face option is available for an additional charge. The CA-L is illuminated by high-output LED technology, available in red or green. AC only and battery backup versions are available. The CA-L is damp location rated and UL Listed.

CONSTRUCTION: The CA-L Series Cast Aluminum LED Exit Signs are constructed of heavy die-cast aluminum and supplied standard with a brushed aluminum faceplate, black housing, and a back plate. Mounting canopies supplied with the CA-L are constructed of heavy die-cast aluminum and finished to match housing color. Optional faceplate finishes include black and white.

ILLUMINATION: The CA-L series is configured with high-output LED lamps. LED version is standard with 120/277v AC input. Energy efficient LED technology uses a maximum of 1.1 watts electricity for both green and red LEDs.

Letter Size: 6” letters with 3/4” stroke
Directional Indicators: Infield applicable chevron arrows sized to meet UL visibility requirements.

BATTERY TECHNOLOGY: Sealed Nickel Cadmium maintenance free battery designed to provide a minimum 90 minutes of emergency operation and many years of dependable service. Push-to-test LED status indicator is standard.

INSTALLATION: Wall Mounting: Single face models are supplied with knockouts in the exit housing’s back plate for attachment to wall surfaces and standard 3 ½-inch and 4-inch electrical boxes.
Ceiling/End Mounting: Ceiling mount canopies are provided with all models for attachment by top or side.

Question : How do I configure the arrows for my sign?
Answer : Many signs come with the ability to set the arrows to your preference at the time of installation. This is called 'infield' applicable arrows. Almost all signs come with field applicable arrows. Here is how they differ. thermoplastic signs have pop-out arrows that can be removed or added to your choice. Cast-Aluminum signs have knock-outs. knock-outs are where we indent the back side of the face plate with a cut in the shape of arrows requiring the tap of a screw driver or hammer to 'knock' them all the way out. It is difficult to add back knocked-out arrows because the seams are exposed. It can be done, but it looks nicer when you are accurate. Self-luminous and photoluminescent signs use stencils and/or adhesive arrows. The adhesive arrows can only be applied once. You can remove them after application but the y are designed for permanent adhesion. The stencils can be popped out. Edge-lit exit signs can have the arrows pre-specified, adhesive, or static. Our signs use either static or pre-configured in general, as the panels for edge-lits are prone to smudges and fingerprints. Our signs look great because our chevrons are designed for easy and clean installation, minus the smudges.
Question : How do I know if this exit sign is approved for use in my city/county/state?
Answer : The UL listing (Underwriters Laboratories) for of our exit signs ensures that these signs are code compliant. UL tests our exit signs and then gives their approval. This approval comes in the form of a listing. As long as your exit sign is UL listed it will work for your jurisdiction. Two exceptions exist: New York City and Chicago, which have their own exit sign specifications in addition to the UL listing.
Question : Does it matter if I choose red or green letters for my exit sign?
Answer : It only matters that you be consistent. If you have green exit signs now, purchase more green; if you have red, purchase more red. What you want to avoid is a mismatching of exit sign colors. Pick one color and stick with it. Recent studies have suggested that green exit signs are better choices because the green color makes people think, “go” whereas red makes people think, “stop”. Always check with you building/fire inspector for local/regional codes that might require red or green letters specifically. This does no apply to New York City and Chicago, as they have their own specific specifications for exit signs.
Question : What does 120/277v mean?
Answer : 120/277 refers to the line voltage that the exit sign can operate on. 120 refers to residential and small commercial line voltage while 220 refers to commercial and office building line voltage. The main point is that our exit signs will work in either situation so you don’t need to worry about the functionality. We recommend using a licensed electrician or maintenance professional to install exit signs, emergency lights and other safety egress equipment.
Question : What is and do I need the battery backup option?
Answer : The battery backup option provides emergency battery power to illuminate your exit sign or emergency light in case of a fire, earthquake, or other emergency that causes a power outage. You must have the battery backup model if you DO NOT have a generator that provides emergency power to your facility.
