PRODUCT OVERVIEW:

The BLADE-75 Series is the most eco-friendly exit sign in the world and exclusively manufactured by Greentorch. Constructed from 99% recycled aluminum and completely non-electrical, the BLADE Series can is fully recyclable at the end of its long, 25-year lifespan. The BLADE-75 has a 75-foot UL Listed viewing distance.

The BLADE-75 Series utilizes non-electrical photoluminescent (glow-in-the-dark) technology, which illuminates the background of the EXIT face; the letter color choice is red or green. The BLADE-75 Series is a suitable choice for new construction LEED projects and already constructed buildings that are going for LEED certification or need EXIT signs installed where there currently is no electricity. The cost to run electrical conduit is expensive, and the BLADE-75 avoids this hassle while insuring fire and building code compliance.

CONSTRUCTION: The BLADE-75 exit sign face and frame are constructed of 99% recycled aluminum. Greentorch uses the highest-grade industrial photoluminescent pigment.

ILLUMINATION:

Non-electrical photoluminescent glow-in-the-dark technology utilizes ambient lighting to charge and illuminates without dependence on electrical backup during an emergency. The BLADE-75 features a 75 foot UL Listed viewing distance with minimal maintenance (occasional dusting) during its 25+ year life expectancy.

Minimum 5 foot-candle (54 lux) external unfiltered light source (fluorescent, metal halide, or mercury vapor illumination, etc.) must be present on the sign face at all times of building occupancy.

EXIT FACE: Installs easily with multiple framing options, hardware included. Suitable for both high and low level applications.

Question : How much light does the face of a photoluminescent exit sign for it to function correctly?
Answer : The face of the photoluminescent sign needs 5 foot candles, which is not a lot of light. To make sure you have 5 foot candles, take a light meter and use it in the area in which the exit sign is going to be placed. 5 foot candles of light must be on the face of the sign at all times when the building is occupied.
Question : Does light have to be on the face of the photoluminescent exit sign at all times?
Answer : Yes and No. When anyone is in the building 5 foot candles of light must be present on the sign at all times. When the building is empty the sign, by code, does not require light present on the face.
Question : How long do photoluminescent exit signs glow for?
Answer : When charged properly, photoluminescent exit signs glow for a minimum of 90 minutes; which is one qualification for their UL 924 and ETL listings. Greentorch Photoluminescent exit signs glow for 90 minutes and even longer, up to 8 hours in some cases.
