PRODUCT OVERVIEW: The GTCA Series Cast Aluminum LED Exit Sign is designed to be durable, affordable, attractive, and maintenance-free. The GTCA is manufactured from sturdy, die-cast aluminum and comes standard with a brushed aluminum convex face and housing. Black and white aluminum housings colors are also available. Custom colors and finishes are available upon request; please call to inquire about price and lead time. The GTCA is supplied standard with one faceplate, a backplate, and mounting canopy and a second faceplate is available for an additional charge for double sided applications. The GTCA comes standard configured with high-output LED illumination, available in colors red or green. AC only and battery backup versions are available. The GTCA is damp location rated and UL Listed for the United States and Canada.

CONSTRUCTION: The GTCA Series Cast Aluminum LED Exit Signs are constructed of heavy die-cast aluminum and supplied standard with a brushed aluminum faceplate and a back plate. Mounting canopies supplied with the GTCA are constructed of heavy die-cast aluminum and finished to match housing color.

ILLUMINATION: The GTCA series is configured with high-output LED lamps. LED version is standard with 120/277v AC input. Energy efficient LED technology uses 2 and 4 watts of electricity for green and red LEDs, respectively.

EXIT FACE:
Letter Size: 6” letters with 3/4” stroke
Directional Indicators: Infield applicable chevron arrows sized to meet UL visibility requirements. Universal Design: All GTCA exits are supplied in single face configurations and provide a second letter face for use in double face applications.

BATTERY TECHNOLOGY: Sealed Nickel Cadmium maintenance free battery designed to provide a minimum 90 minutes of emergency operation and many years of dependable service.

INSTALLATION: Wall Mounting: Single face models are supplied with knockouts in the exit housing’s back plate for attachment to wall surfaces and standard 3 ½-inch and 4-inch electrical boxes.
Ceiling/End Mounting: Ceiling mount canopies are provided with all models for attachment by top or side.

Question : How do I configure the arrows for my sign?
Answer : Many signs come with the ability to set the arrows to your preference at the time of installation. This is called 'infield' applicable arrows. Almost all signs come with field applicable arrows. Here is how they differ. thermoplastic signs have pop-out arrows that can be removed or added to your choice. Cast-Aluminum signs have knock-outs. knock-outs are where we indent the back side of the face plate with a cut in the shape of arrows requiring the tap of a screw driver or hammer to 'knock' them all the way out. It is difficult to add back knocked-out arrows because the seams are exposed. It can be done, but it looks nicer when you are accurate. Self-luminous and photoluminescent signs use stencils and/or adhesive arrows. The adhesive arrows can only be applied once. You can remove them after application but the y are designed for permanent adhesion. The stencils can be popped out. Edge-lit exit signs can have the arrows pre-specified, adhesive, or static. Our signs use either static or pre-configured in general, as the panels for edge-lits are prone to smudges and fingerprints. Our signs look great because our chevrons are designed for easy and clean installation, minus the smudges.
Question : Does this exit sign plug-in to a wall outlet?
Answer : No. LED and other types of electrical exit signs have to be hard-wired into your electrical system. Electrical exit signs must be hard-wired to be building and fire code compliant. If you are looking for an exit sign to use in a location that does not have electricity available please look at our non-electrical Self Luminous and Photoluminescent exit signs.
Question : How do I know if this exit sign is approved for use in my city/county/state?
Answer : The UL listing (Underwriters Laboratories) for of our exit signs ensures that these signs are code compliant. UL tests our exit signs and then gives their approval. This approval comes in the form of a listing. As long as your exit sign is UL listed it will work for your jurisdiction. Two exceptions exist: New York City and Chicago, which have their own exit sign specifications in addition to the UL listing.
Question : What does 120/277v mean?
Answer : 120/277 refers to the line voltage that the exit sign can operate on. 120 refers to residential and small commercial line voltage while 220 refers to commercial and office building line voltage. The main point is that our exit signs will work in either situation so you don’t need to worry about the functionality. We recommend using a licensed electrician or maintenance professional to install exit signs, emergency lights and other safety egress equipment.
Question : What is and do I need the battery backup option?
Answer : The battery backup option provides emergency battery power to illuminate your exit sign or emergency light in case of a fire, earthquake, or other emergency that causes a power outage. You must have the battery backup model if you DO NOT have a generator that provides emergency power to your facility.
