The GTHZD series is approved for installation in NEC Class I, Divisions 1 or 2, Groups C & D; or Class II, Divisions 1 or 2, Groups E, F and G areas. The GTHZD series uses copper-free cast aluminum housings that offer trouble-free installation and durability.

CONSTRUCTION: The GTHZD series housings are constructed from corrosion resistant, copper-free cast aluminum. The quick access thread on cover allows for trouble-free installation and reduces general maintenance time. A one-way stainless breather provides proper and effective unit ventilation. External test switch and monitor LED are standard. The GTHZD series is capable of supporting remote emergency fixtures and exit signage.

ILLUMINATION: 6V HALOGEN 8WH, 10WH, 12WH, 20WH 12V HALOGEN 8WH, 12WH, 20WH 24V HALOGEN 12WH, 20WH 120V COMPACT: (CF) compact fluorescent: 2x13w

BATTERY TECHNOLOGY: The GTHZD series is designed to be used with maintenance free, sealed valve regulated lead acid batteries that provide a minimum emergency duration of 90 minutes. Recharge time of the battery is twenty-four hours. Other batteries including Nickel-Cadmium are available, specify upon ordering.

INSTALLATION: The GTHZD series is suitable for surface wall or ceiling and pendant mounting. Suitable for installation and operation in NEC Class I, Div 1 or 2, Groups C & D; or Class II, Div 1 or 2, Groups E, F & G areas.

ELECTRICAL SPECIFICATIONS: Charger Type: Solid state charging circuitry. The GTHZD series utilizes a pulse switching charger that is up to 70% more efficient than traditional constant voltage chargers.
Utility Input: 120/277VAC, 60 Hz
Recharge Duty Cycle: 24 hours
Load Transfer: All models utilize a solid state transfer circuit for load connection.
Controls: Momentary test switch and LED AC-On indicator light
Safety Circuitry: AC Lockout: Prevents battery discharge prior to initial unit power-up saving installation time.
Low Voltage Battery Disconnect: Protects the battery from being severely damaged by deep discharge during prolonged power failures. Short Circuit Protection: On units with solid state transfer, output protection is provided by a disconnect circuit that automatically resets itself when the fault condition is corrected. Brownout Protection: Automatically switches the unit to emergency mode when AC voltage sags below 80% of nominal.

CODE COMPLIANCE: All models are ETL listed to UL924 standards.

Question : What is and do I need the battery backup option for my emergency light?
Answer : The battery backup option provides power to your emergency lights in case of a fire, earthquake, or other emergency that causes a power outage. You must have the battery backup model if you DO NOT have a generator that provides power to your facility in emergency circumstances.
Question : When do emergency lights come on?
Answer : Emergency lights turn on when power is lost to the facility. When equipped with a battery backup or supplied with electricity from a generator, Greentorch emergency lights will operate for a minimum of 90 minutes in emergency situations.
Question : Does this emergency light plug-in to a wall outlet?
Answer : No. Emergency lights have to be hard-wired into your electrical system to be building and fire code compliant. If you are looking for a 100% battery operated emergency light it does not exist because it is impossible to charge the battery for the light without a source of electricity. Batteries in emergency lights have a trickle charge, which means the battery uses a minute amount of electricity to stay charged incase of an emergency power outage.
Question : What does 120/277v mean?
Answer : 120/277 refers to the line voltage that the emergency light can operate on. 120 refers to residential and small commercial line voltage while 220 refers to commercial and office building line voltage. The main point is that our emergency lights will work in either situation so you don’t need to worry about the functionality. We recommend using a licensed electrician or maintenance professional to install the signs.
Question : Are there emergency lights with batteries that operate longer than 90 minutes in emergency power mode?
Answer : Yes, there are. The higher the wattage of the emergency lighting unit the longer the unit will operate in emergency power mode (while keeping the lamp head wattage constant). Please see our industrial line of emergency lights, which come with large batteries (up to 400 watts).
Question : What is remote head capability?
Answer : Remote head capability means that the emergency lighting unit has been equipped with a battery that is powerful enough to supply power remotely to individual lamp heads. The larger the battery, the more remote heads a unit can handle.
Our products typically carry a 5 year warranty though on certain items the warranty is longer. All products are guaranteed to be new, and free from defect. Batteries carry a 5 year prorated warranty.
