PRODUCT OVERVIEW: The MICRA Series exit signs feature an ultra thin extruded aluminum design. The one-piece body is extruded to exact standards producing an extremely rigid body that eliminates any light leaks. The ultra narrow profile provides a stylish and contemporary appearance, perfectly suited to modern business and commercial decors. The MICRA is available in a single and double face model with red or green LEDs. Operates on 120/277v AC power for both AC only and battery backup models. The canopy provided with the MICRA allows for ceiling and end (flag) mounting capability. The MICRA can be flush mounted with no canopy, creating an ultra low profile exit sign.

CONSTRUCTION: The MICRA Series extruded body is constructed from a single piece of extruded aluminum. The canopy is made from 16-gauge steel. The exit body end plates are constructed from machined aluminum. White, baked powder coat finish is standard. Single or double face versions must be specified. The universal mounting pattern and key hole slots are stamped into the back plate. Chevron arrows can be specified; otherwise universal chevron arrows are supplied. ILLUMINATION: All LED versions consume only 2W nominal power. Exit face illumination is provided by a special high intensity indirect view red or green LEDs. Letter brightness and illumination uniformity exceed UL requirements. The LEDs are rated for a 8-10 year lifespan.

Directional Indicators: The MICRA series chevron arrows can be specified at the time of order to exactly match specifications. Otherwise, universal chevrons are cut and field selectable chevron blanks may be arranged to suit installation specifications.

BATTERY TECHNOLOGY: The MICRA Exit comes standard in AC Only with 120/277VAC input. Nickel Cadmium battery backup is available and provides a minimum 90 minutes of emergency operation.

INSTALLATION: All mounting channels are extruded with the housing at the time of manufacture, adding to the rigidity of the sign. The housing end plates are machined from solid aluminum and secured to the housing with two screws. The MICRA canopy is made from 16-gauge steel and is attached to the housing at the factory to provide the most secure mounting possible. All exit face wording, mounting patterns and chevron arrows are cut during the manufacturing process. Single or double face versions must be specified. Flush wall mount needs no canopy.

Question : How do I configure the arrows for my sign?
Answer : Many signs come with the ability to set the arrows to your preference at the time of installation. This is called 'infield' applicable arrows. Almost all signs come with field applicable arrows. Here is how they differ. thermoplastic signs have pop-out arrows that can be removed or added to your choice. Cast-Aluminum signs have knock-outs. knock-outs are where we indent the back side of the face plate with a cut in the shape of arrows requiring the tap of a screw driver or hammer to 'knock' them all the way out. It is difficult to add back knocked-out arrows because the seams are exposed. It can be done, but it looks nicer when you are accurate. Self-luminous and photoluminescent signs use stencils and/or adhesive arrows. The adhesive arrows can only be applied once. You can remove them after application but the y are designed for permanent adhesion. The stencils can be popped out. Edge-lit exit signs can have the arrows pre-specified, adhesive, or static. Our signs use either static or pre-configured in general, as the panels for edge-lits are prone to smudges and fingerprints. Our signs look great because our chevrons are designed for easy and clean installation, minus the smudges.
Question : Does this exit sign plug-in to a wall outlet?
Answer : No. LED and other types of electrical exit signs have to be hard-wired into your electrical system. Electrical exit signs must be hard-wired to be building and fire code compliant. If you are looking for an exit sign to use in a location that does not have electricity available please look at our non-electrical Self Luminous and Photoluminescent exit signs.
Question : How do I know if this exit sign is approved for use in my city/county/state?
Answer : The UL listing (Underwriters Laboratories) for of our exit signs ensures that these signs are code compliant. UL tests our exit signs and then gives their approval. This approval comes in the form of a listing. As long as your exit sign is UL listed it will work for your jurisdiction. Two exceptions exist: New York City and Chicago, which have their own exit sign specifications in addition to the UL listing.
Question : What is and do I need the battery backup option?
Answer : The battery backup option provides emergency battery power to illuminate your exit sign or emergency light in case of a fire, earthquake, or other emergency that causes a power outage. You must have the battery backup model if you DO NOT have a generator that provides emergency power to your facility.
