PRODUCT OVERVIEW:

The PCX-100 Photoluminescent Exit Sign features an unrivaled 100-foot viewing distance. Made from sturdy ABS Thermoplastic, the PCX-100 is great for all types of installations, from commercial to retail applications, and includes a bracket for top and flag mountings.

The PCX-100 can be used to gain LEED points. The PCX-100 has a 25-year lifespan and requires no electricity, so it can be installed almost anywhere and is maintenance-free.

The PCX-100 charges its photoluminescent pigment using ambient light. When AC power to the facility is lost, the PCX-100 will illuminate for a minimum of 90 minutes. The PCX-100 is offered in colors of red, green, and black. The chevron arrows are infield applicable. ETL Listed to UL 924 Standards.

CONSTRUCTION: Signs are lightweight injection molded ABS Thermoplastic with 1/5” thick dimensional photoluminescent polypropylene letters and arrows.

ILLUMINATION:

Non-electrical photoluminescent glow-in-the-dark technology utilizes ambient lighting to charge and illuminates without dependence on electrical backup during an emergency.

The PCX-100 features a 100 foot ETL Listed foot viewing distance with minimal maintenance (occasional dusting) during its 25+ year life expectancy.

Minimum 5 foot-candle (54 lux) external unfiltered light source (fluorescent, metal halide, or mercury vapor illumination, etc.) must be present on the sign face at all times of building occupancy.

EXIT FACE:
Letter Size: 7” letters with 1” stroke
Directional Indicators: Infield applicable chevron arrows sized to meet UL visibility requirements.


INSTALLATION: Installs standard flush to the wall. Mounting bracket is included for ceiling and flag mounts.

ELECTRICAL SPECIFICATIONS: None, photoluminescent exit signs do not require electricity.

Question : Are non-electrical signs bright enough?
Answer : Both Tritium and Photoluminescent Exit signs are subject to visibility tests at UL. Signs bearing the UL listed mark meet or exceed the minimum requirements as set forth by UL, which are accepted by NFPA 101 Life Safety and are accepted by building codes including IBC. They are bright enough to pass the visibility tests. Are they bright enough to see through a smoke filled room? No sign is able to been seen through smoke, including electrical signs. In order to achieve a safe exit passage in smokey situations, low level exit signs are required.
Question : Does light have to be on the face of the photoluminescent exit sign at all times?
Answer : Yes and No. When anyone is in the building 5 foot candles of light must be present on the sign at all times. When the building is empty the sign, by code, does not require light present on the face.
Question : How long do photoluminescent exit signs glow for?
Answer : When charged properly, photoluminescent exit signs glow for a minimum of 90 minutes; which is one qualification for their UL 924 and ETL listings. Greentorch Photoluminescent exit signs glow for 90 minutes and even longer, up to 8 hours in some cases.
