PRODUCT OVERVIEW: Cavity lit and direct view LED models featuring low profile installation in over door or floor proximity applications. Lightweight, heavy duty aluminum construction throughout. Incandescent AC-only and emergency models are also available in the same low profile installation and rugged aluminum construction.

CONSTRUCTION: RWAX Series exits are constructed of heavy duty aluminum finished in white baked-on powder paint providing scratch and corrosion resistance. Optional black and black with silver stencil face finishes available. A separate galvanized steel recessed mounting box is provided with all models. A 1/4” thick polycarbonate front panel is provided on all models to protect the exit face and prevent tampering.

ILLUMINATION: LED models: Exit face illumination is provided by a special high intensity indirect red or green LED panel. LED lamps have an estimated life of 25 years. AC Light models: Standard exit face illumination is provided by two candelabra base 15T6 120 volt, 15 watt incandescent AC lamps. Fluorescent lamp options provide a choice of one or two 5 watt PL style lamps. In emergency mode, illumination is provided by two 6 volt, 5.4 watt wedge base incandescent DC lamps. Incandescent AC lamps have an estimated life of 2,000 hours; incandescent emergency mode DC lamps estimated 100 hours, Fluorescent AC lamps estimated 10,000 hours lifespan. Letter brightness and illumination uniformity for all models exceed UL requirements.

BATTERY TECHNOLOGY: LED models use nickel cadmium maintenance free battery designed to provide many years of dependable service. Incandescent and fluorescent models use sealed pure lead maintenance free battery designed to provide many years of dependable service.

INSTALLATION: Recessed Wall Mounting: The recessed mounting box is supplied with knockouts for attachment to standard 31/2” and 4” electrical boxes. The RWAX exit assembly installs into the recessed mounting box by means of screws.

ELECTRICAL SPECIFICATIONS: Charger Type: Incandescent and fluorescent models utilize a fully automatic, temperature compensating, variable rate charger. LED models utilize a fully automatic, temperature compensating, constant current type charger.

Question : How do I configure the arrows for my sign?
Answer : Many signs come with the ability to set the arrows to your preference at the time of installation. This is called 'infield' applicable arrows. Almost all signs come with field applicable arrows. Here is how they differ. thermoplastic signs have pop-out arrows that can be removed or added to your choice. Cast-Aluminum signs have knock-outs. knock-outs are where we indent the back side of the face plate with a cut in the shape of arrows requiring the tap of a screw driver or hammer to 'knock' them all the way out. It is difficult to add back knocked-out arrows because the seams are exposed. It can be done, but it looks nicer when you are accurate. Self-luminous and photoluminescent signs use stencils and/or adhesive arrows. The adhesive arrows can only be applied once. You can remove them after application but the y are designed for permanent adhesion. The stencils can be popped out. Edge-lit exit signs can have the arrows pre-specified, adhesive, or static. Our signs use either static or pre-configured in general, as the panels for edge-lits are prone to smudges and fingerprints. Our signs look great because our chevrons are designed for easy and clean installation, minus the smudges.
Question : How do I know if this exit sign is approved for use in my city/county/state?
Answer : The UL listing (Underwriters Laboratories) for of our exit signs ensures that these signs are code compliant. UL tests our exit signs and then gives their approval. This approval comes in the form of a listing. As long as your exit sign is UL listed it will work for your jurisdiction. Two exceptions exist: New York City and Chicago, which have their own exit sign specifications in addition to the UL listing.
Question : What does 120/277v mean?
Answer : 120/277 refers to the line voltage that the exit sign can operate on. 120 refers to residential and small commercial line voltage while 220 refers to commercial and office building line voltage. The main point is that our exit signs will work in either situation so you don’t need to worry about the functionality. We recommend using a licensed electrician or maintenance professional to install exit signs, emergency lights and other safety egress equipment.
Question : What is and do I need the battery backup option?
Answer : The battery backup option provides emergency battery power to illuminate your exit sign or emergency light in case of a fire, earthquake, or other emergency that causes a power outage. You must have the battery backup model if you DO NOT have a generator that provides emergency power to your facility.

Our products typically carry a 5 year warranty though on certain items the warranty is longer. All products are guaranteed to be new, and free from defect. Batteries carry a 5 year prorated warranty.
