PRODUCT OVERVIEW: The SWAX series of special wording and graphic extruded aluminum signs feature an attractive housing design. Ideal for commercial and institutional installations, the slim profile of this extruded fixture blends perfectly with current interior decors. The SWAX is available configured with high-output LEDs in AC only, AC/DC, and self-powered operation versions.

CONSTRUCTION: The SWAX series is constructed from durable extruded aluminum. The SWAX comes standard with a white baked powder coat finish. Available in custom epoxy-based powder coat finishes. The extruded aluminum frame contains no external holes or slots, adding to the clean look while eliminating unwanted light leaks. Single or double face version must be specified. Universal mounting pattern and key hole slots are stamped into the backplate. Removable chevron arrows are standard on fixture. The self-powered version comes standard with an external LED status indicator and test switch.

ILLUMINATION: The SWAX series is configured with high-output LEDs standard with 120/277/347VAC input. All LED models consume only 1.1W nominal power. Optional emergency illumination is provided by the LED light source at the following wattages: 6VDC - 0.5 Watts; 12VDC - 1.5 Watts; 24VDC - 3.5 Watts.

BATTERY TECHNOLOGY: The SWAX is designed with a maintenance free, nickel cadmium battery providing a minimum emergency duration of 30 minutes. An optional 60, 90 or 120 minute nickel-cadmium batteries are available. Recharge time of the battery is 24 hours.

INSTALLATION: The SWAX is suitable for surface ceiling, wall or end mount. Suitable for indoor installations. Universal mounting pattern and key hole slots are stamped on the backplate. Surface mount conduit entry knockouts are also provided. The face and backplates are mounted into the frame using a pin and channel system that permits simple and speedy removal during installation. This design also eliminates the need for any visible screws or fasteners. The extruded aluminum forms a rigid and durable frame that can be securely mounted in any application. The SWAX is supplied standard with an attractive and durable white, baked powder coat finish. Other colors are available, including custom color matching, please specify.

Question : Does this exit sign plug-in to a wall outlet?
Answer : No. LED and other types of electrical exit signs have to be hard-wired into your electrical system. Electrical exit signs must be hard-wired to be building and fire code compliant. If you are looking for an exit sign to use in a location that does not have electricity available please look at our non-electrical Self Luminous and Photoluminescent exit signs.
Question : Does this exit sign come with lights on the inside to make the sign illuminate?
Answer : Yes, it has a strip of LEDs (light emitting diodes) inside it. The maintenance-free LEDs produce green or red light and are rated for a lifespan of 8-10 years. They are energy efficient, consuming between 1 and 5 watts of electricity and are available in red or green.
Question : How do I know if this exit sign is approved for use in my city/county/state?
Answer : The UL listing (Underwriters Laboratories) for of our exit signs ensures that these signs are code compliant. UL tests our exit signs and then gives their approval. This approval comes in the form of a listing. As long as your exit sign is UL listed it will work for your jurisdiction. Two exceptions exist: New York City and Chicago, which have their own exit sign specifications in addition to the UL listing.
Question : What does 120/277v mean?
Answer : 120/277 refers to the line voltage that the exit sign can operate on. 120 refers to residential and small commercial line voltage while 220 refers to commercial and office building line voltage. The main point is that our exit signs will work in either situation so you don’t need to worry about the functionality. We recommend using a licensed electrician or maintenance professional to install exit signs, emergency lights and other safety egress equipment.
Question : What is and do I need the battery backup option?
Answer : The battery backup option provides emergency battery power to illuminate your exit sign or emergency light in case of a fire, earthquake, or other emergency that causes a power outage. You must have the battery backup model if you DO NOT have a generator that provides emergency power to your facility.
